Anatomy of a Shutter
Stiles: The vertical pieces on the left and right side. These need to be hand selected for straightness.
Rails: The top and bottom portion of the shutter.
Louver: The slat or the movable part. This comes in many sizes, however 3.5" is now the most frequently chosen.
Tilt Rod: This is the "stick" that moves the louvers open and closed. It is normally connected to the louver blades by a staple.
Staples: The most common way that the tilt rod is connected to louver. There is one size in the tilt rod, another in the louver
Louver Pin: This part is is inserted in the end of the louver and fits into a hole drilled into the stile
